According to a recent study, Scarlett Johansson is considered to be as close to physical perfection as any living celebrity.
The lingerie brand Bluebella has analyzed the figures of famous celebrities, and they found that the 30-year-old American actress has the perfect “Golden Ratio” figure.
The ancient Greeks believed in a Golden Ratio for all things when they approached perfection. According to a new study by lingerie brand Bluebella, Scarlett Johansson is as close to physical perfection as any celebrity currently alive.
Scarlett’s measurements of her bust, waist, and hips result in a beauty score of 96.4% when compared to the Golden Ratio. The hourglass curves from her bust to waist, and then to hips, give a figure close to the Golden Ratio of beauty, which has been held as a paradigm of beauty for thousands of years.
Scientists have previously applied the concept to the ideal layout of facial features, but until now it has never been used to measure perfection in women’s figures.
A research study conducted by the popular brand Bluebella revealed that Kim Kardashian, aged 34, holds the second position with a remarkable score of 96.3% on the Golden Ratio scale. Meanwhile, Helen Mirren, aged 69, secures the third position with a score of 95.6%. Kim Kardashian’s famous curves have played a significant role in boosting her ranking in the Bluebella study.
Bluebell also conducted a study on celebrities of the past and discovered that Marilyn Monroe had the fourth best figure, just six percent off the ideal. Women with curvier figures fared better under this analysis, with Kelly Brook featuring fifth. However, more athletic frames also featured in the top ten, with actress Cameron Diaz coming in sixth with 91 percent and model Elle Macpherson in seventh with 88.3 percent.
In eighth place on the list of actresses with the closest resemblance to the perfect Golden Ratio of 1.618 is Salma Hayek, with 88%. Meanwhile, Katy Perry ranks ninth with a score of 92%. Some stars surpass the Golden Ratio, while others fall short, but Scarlett Johansson’s score comes the closest. The discovery of the Golden Ratio was accidental for Bella Hadid when she researched sizing options for their next season’s women’s underwear collection.
While analyzing celebrity photos, researchers found that all of them were within +/- 10 percent of the Golden Ratio, despite their vastly different shapes and figures. Emily Bendell, founder of Bluebella, mentioned that they do a lot of research to ensure their lingerie fits perfectly and that they understand trends around body shape. In a computer simulation run on celebrity women, Scarlett Johansson’s figure was found to be pretty close to the perfect Golden Ratio. Bendell added that they were pleased to see that women’s figures were all very different, ranging from athletic and slim to voluptuous and curvy, which shows that you do not have to have a skinny model-like physique to be beautiful.
The figures were calculated by superimposing a Golden Ratio grid over full-length photos of female celebrities and mapping their bust, waist, and hips. The corresponding ratio was calculated using the formula (bust + waist)/hip – waist, which was then divided by the hip-waist difference for the different figure. The bust/waist figure was calculated as the widest point of the bust minus the narrowest point of the waist, multiplied by the distance from the highest point of the bust down to the lowest point of the waist. This was then halved to get the waist-hip difference figure.
