As a cat enthusiast, it might come as a surprise that I now have eight dogs under my care. The pack consists of six huskies, a Samoyed, and a Northern Inuit. Even though I intended to adopt a kitten initially, it proved to be impossible with my existing furry companions. Nonetheless, I was determined to have a feline friend in my life. During my search for a cat that could coexist with dogs, I stumbled upon a shocking reality: fur farms still exist in my country where lynxes are bred for their highly coveted fur, which is particularly popular in Russia. Luckily, it is legal to adopt a baby lynx from these farms and raise it as a pet. So, I decided to welcome a cute lynx cub into my home, who would have otherwise been destined to become a fur coat. I named him Geralt after the protagonist in the famous video game The Witcher.
Geralt was pleasantly surprised to find that the dogs made wonderful companions for him. Not only did they delight in playing with the kitten, but they also tolerated his nibbling on their ears and snoozing on their stomachs. Perhaps the most enjoyable aspect of their relationship was the fact that the dogs were generous enough to share their food with the kitten, allowing him to sneak in some tasty bites whenever possible.
Our elderly dog, Banshee, took on the task of caring for a young bobcat cub with great care and kindness.
As Geralt grew older, his playful personality continued to shine and he quickly became the life of the party at all gatherings with his husky friends.
Furthermore, Texas and I have developed a close bond, creating a meaningful relationship between myself and my equine companion.
Following a difficult situation, I made a personal vow to dedicate myself to the nurturing and education of my beloved pet, which has yielded impressive results. He possesses an outstanding combination of feline and canine characteristics that are truly extraordinary.
He’s a big and hairy beast that moves in a clumsy manner.
When Geralt was still a young whelp, I had the good fortune of rescuing a treasured female kitten who quickly became his devoted and loving feline companion.
Bulochka was given her name because of her delightful personality, as the term “bun” represents endearment in our traditions.
In the past, I believed that lynxes were mostly alone in their way of life, so I thought my feline pets would also prefer to be solitary. But to my delight, I discovered that Geralt, one of my cats, warmly welcomed and treated little Bulochka as his own family member with affection and acceptance.

While brainstorming names for our beloved pet with some friends, one of them had a playful suggestion of “Ciri” as a more lighthearted option compared to our original choice of “Bulochka.”
Since that unforgettable moment, my lynx buddies have been the ultimate partners in crime and are constantly seen side by side. It’s absolutely heartwarming to witness how they cozy up with one another while they snooze, complete with their cute and tiny noses.
As someone who has personally cared for two lynxes, I can confirm that it is no easy task to ensure their health and happiness. These wild animals present a unique set of challenges that must be overcome in order to provide them with proper care and attention.
The primary objective of fur farms is animal breeding, but regrettably, this often results in the neglect of their welfare and health.
Luckily, Geralt has only experienced a broken elbow and a stubbed toe in his lifetime, indicating that he’s usually in excellent physical shape.
Teaching and taming a lynx may seem like a difficult feat, but it’s actually achievable with the right guidance. Simply teaching them to use a litter box and walk on a leash can make the process much easier.
These creatures also emit a gentle purr, similar to domestic felines, but with a more distinct vibrancy.
At present, I find immense pleasure in my everyday life where I get to share my time with lynxes, huskies, and horses. In addition, there is nothing that gives me greater joy than lending a hand to those individuals who have taken the responsibility of rescuing big wild cats and providing them with a secure and affectionate abode.
I am eagerly looking forward to the arrival of the impending year, as it may bring with it a fresh chance for me to rescue a charming lynx cub from a fur farm.
