When you bring a cat into your life, you expect its fur to stay the same color throughout its life. A black cat is expected to remain black, but David was in for a surprise when Scrappy, his beloved feline friend, started developing white spots. This change occurred when Scrappy turned seven years old and was most likely caused by vitiligo, a rare skin condition that creates unique marbling in a cat’s fur. Despite this diagnosis, Scrappy is still a healthy and happy senior cat who loves to roam the streets and pick fights with other cats in the neighborhood. David has been documenting Scrappy’s unique beauty and daily life, even though he admits that Scrappy is not the easiest cat to photograph. Nevertheless, thousands of people have fallen in love with Scrappy and admire his zest for life.
